Can't find specs to replacement a6100y cooling fan (P/N 5188-3722). Know it's 92 mm, but can't find what the RPMs should be in a replacement fan, and it seems to be discontinued.

I'm not sure exactly - but a google search found quite a few non-HP sources for this fan.
No endorsements though - your mileage may vary.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen a couple hits that say they are suitable replacements....then they show that they are different bearing types...some are fixed RPM, some seem to have 3 RPM modes....not sure what the system was spec'd to require for cooling.

How did you find the P/N ?
The processor cooling fan in my PC may need replacing, the only thing I could find was the manufacturer's (AVC) P/N L3363 or something like that. It's a nine bladed fan 25mm deep (could be 25.4) and 70 mm in diameter. The heatsink Does not need replacing - it's not damaged in any way - but the fan might.
I don't know the fan speed, but MBM5 (MotherBoardMonitor5) gives it as 337,500 rpm mostly, sometimes 0, very rarely other speeds.
In fact I'm not sure I can replace the fan by itself, do you have to buy the heatsink/fan assembly (for a socket 478) ?
I'd prefer to replace the fan without taking out the CPU heatsink because that's quite a diificult job it seems for a clumsy person with limited space !
