Pavilion p6777c - Front panel has 5 cables (yellow, blue, red and 3 black).

Cables are bundled together and connect ti the motherboard for power switch, hard drive access LED, etc.  I need to know which cable goes to power LED positive and negative, the IDE LED positive and negative, etc.  Thanks, Jeff

Hello,

Doesn't the motherboard layout helps you out answering your questions?

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01925486&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=5058947

Opening the unit and checking where the cables are connected, is that an idea?

Why do you need to know, which pin is for the positive and the negative?

THanks,

Re: Pavilion p6777c - Front panel has 5 cables (yellow, blue, red and 3 black).

I found an article on the forum where someone provided a diagram of the 10 pin layout..  Six of the pins were used for the power LED, the hard drive LED and the power switch.  I replaced the motherboard with an ASUS M5A88-M so I needed to know which cables went where so I could hook the cables up correctly.  I removed the 6 cables heads and connected them to the correct pins on the ASUS motherboard and the thing is humming along.  I've replaced the CPU with a Phenom II X4 975 and I wanted a better motherboard for faster memory, faster hard drive, etc.  I game some with the machine but I really just like to tinker and update about every year or two.  So, thanks for the response but I found what I needed.

Re: Pavilion p6777c - Front panel has 5 cables (yellow, blue, red and 3 black).

I found the pin layout in this message (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware/What-is-front-panel-connections-for-a-E9180T-Other-ans...).  My Pavilion p6777c used 6 pins out of 9 as there was no number 10 pin.  Two pins were for the power switch, two for the power LED and two for the HDD or IDE LED.  Once I knew which pin was what then I could remove the cable plugins from the connector and move the cables to the correct pin on the ASUS motherboard I was installing in my p6777c.  Everything worked perfectly so the diagram solved my problem.
