Personal Media Drive Bay

Can anyone explain why HP discontinued the option of a Personal Media Drive bay on their desktops? I have one on my desktop, less than three years old, and I am totally satisfied with it. Were there probems with them?

WDS,

IMHO the PMD was made obsolete by the lack of need, and speed differential.

The PMD is a USB 2.0 device, and with the larger internal hard drives (1T-3T) and speeds now available (Sata300-600),  the old PMD need became unnecessary.

Newer motherboards have external options for ESata and USB3.0
