Power Supply Problem - HP Pavilion a6000

Desktop Computer will not power up.

HP Pavilion a6000.  Power Supply:  Bestec, HP P/N 5188-2622

Pressed power button for 10 seconds.  Moved red switch back and forth.  As per website.

Nothing changed.

Here's what happens now:

Machine unplugged

Green LED - off

Plug in power supply.

Green LED - on

Depress power-on button

Light in power-on button flickers momentarily (at beginning of being depressed) then goes out

Fan in power supply turns momentarily then stops.

Green LED - off

Remove plug from power supply

Green light goes ON for 5 to 7 seconds, then goes out.

Events repeat if i Plug in again.

Any advice?

Will be generous with points ....

Re: Power Supply Problem - HP Pavilion a6000

Sounds like you need to replace the power supply. You can purchase the same HP unit or replace it with something like the Corsair CX500 if you like.
