Power supply compatability with my computer

Hi, i've been searching around on websites such as newegg looking for a power supply for my computer.

My computer is a HP model p6203w. The graphics card I have currently is a Nvidia Geforce GTS 250. I read on the Nvidia website that 450 Watt power supply was the minimum needed to run my card efficiently.

So looking through I found this one, and i'm wondering if it is compatible with my computer or would i need to look for a slightly lower wattage psu?

Re: Power supply compatability with my computer

Hi,

I don't see an issue with the wattage. However the dimensions of 3.4" x 5.9" x 6.1" for the PSU and bigger than what is typical for HP PCs.  It might fit.  I would suggest that you consider a PSU with the dimensions of 3.4" by 5.5" by 5.9" to ensure a proper fit.

You should open up your PC and measure the physical dimensions of your power supply. Here is a list of things to consider:

1. Specifications
2. Total wattage - important
3. 12+ volt amperage rating - important
4. Modular - not mandatory but I like the flexibility
5. Warranty
6. i7 and SLI ready
7. Efficiency rating
8. Cost
9. Physical size -- standard ATX PSU is 5.5" by 5.9" by 3.4"
10. A single 12+ volt rail is a better choice.

www.newegg.com has lots of PSUs choices. Corsair, OCZ, Rosewill, Thermaltake.....
