Power supply upgrade for Pavillion 9040n

Hi.  My PC is a Pavillion 9040n with Vista.  Full specs here http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ca/en/ho/WF06b/12132708-12133156-12133158-12133158-12133158-80631744-...

I am trying to upgrade my current graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS graphics card) to a Radeon HD 6450.  That means I also have to upgrade the power supply.  Can anyone recommend a power supply around 600w that will work?  Not looking for the cheapest, but I would like to keep it around $100 or less.

I've seen a couple that seem like they would work, except that the fan is on top, like this: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=59908, and I assume that's out of the question for my PC.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Try the Corsair CX500 or CX600 for a good PSU at a good price. BTW... if you turn the PSU over when installing it, it works great.

Oh for...why didn't I think of that?  :smileyfrustrated:...but won't that just blow all the heat into the case then?

Thanks!

Re: Power supply upgrade for Pavillion 9040n

If you look at the fan blades in the PSU, you will see that it draws the air in through the fan and pushes the air over the PSU components, then out the vents next to the power plug/receptacle and power switch. Placing the PSU in the top of your computer case with the PSU fan on the down side will draw the air out of the case not blow hot air into the case.
