Hi,
Before trying anything else, see if you are able to access and back-up your files using the procedure detailed below.
One possible way to try and retrieve your files from a non-booting drive is to follow the procedure in the link below. The Ubuntu operating system CD you create can run from the CD alone ( ie it doesn't have to install on the Hard Drive ) and can be successful in retrieving data even from a failing Hard Drive. When you've created the CD, follow the instructions and see if you can back up your existing files.
If you have successfully backed-up your data, when done, remove the Ubuntu disc and run the tests shown below.
Shut down the notebook. Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu. Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on both the Hard Drive and Memory. Post back with the details of any error messages.
Regards,
DP-K

Hi,
Well it's good to hear that Windows has started up ![]()
As a rough guide, Windows requires ( or at least prefers ) to have a minimum of 15% free space on the HDD.
First, I would try cleaning up unnecessary temporary files as follows.
1. If you have a large amount of Video files, delete any you can do without.
2. Download and install ccleaner on the link below.
http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download/standard
When installed, launch the utility, click the 'Analyze' button and when it has finished checking the drive, click the 'Run Cleaner' button.
3. Follow the guide on the link below to run Windows Disk Cleanup utility - note: as advised, do not check 'Hibernation File Cleaner' and ignore Step 6 for now.
After this has completed, click the Start Menu, open Computer and check the available space on Local Disk C.
Let me know how this goes.

DP-K
