I think you should format the hard drive keeping all te restoring data disks with you. Its not a mojor issue some times our computer takes time to accept the changed products. pls. check all cables and restart and follow the steps you followed.

Re: Prevent possible Seagate hard drive crashes!

Whereas I think as soon as Vista SP1 finishes downloading, I will check the connectors. However, since it did show up in the BIOS and on Nero Backitup, but not in My Computer or Hard Disk Recovery it looks like a different problem...

Re: Prevent possible Seagate hard drive crashes!

I think yoy should check your data if not accessible then get your lost data first. and in the mean while replace it with segate.

Re: Prevent possible Seagate hard drive crashes!

It is the best thing to send your failed hard drive to get the data recovered, might possible that data recovery people repair it as well. try to contact them as per your suitable location.

Raid Issues

I saw a few people had the same trouble as I did getting the firmware update package to burn the update CD.  In my case, my a6750f came with the hard drive mode set to RAID in the BIOS.  I don't know why a computer with one hard drive would ship with RAID half configured on it, but that's another issue.  The workaround to get the firmware update CD to burn was to boot into the BIOS, change the hard drive SATA mode to IDE, boot up and run the package again.  Having the hdd in RAID or ACHI mode was causing Windows to see it as a SCSI drive, not a Seagate SATA drive.  I found that in RAID or AHCI mode the drive showed up in device manager as "AMD 1+0 RAID Ready SCSI Disk", whereas booting in IDE mode reveals the true "ST3750630AS".  Maybe this will help someone else.  Of course, if you actually do use RAID on your system, I wouldn't recommend changing the hdd mode in the BIOS

Re: Raid Issues

i booted my PC up yesterday to find the message 'boot disc not found, please insert boot disc'. i ran the diagnostics and apparently i have no HD ;(

My HD details are

Segate Barracuda 7200.11 750gb            ST3750630AS

Ive got no idea what firmware i had as i wasnt aware that there was a problem. The HD came as standard wth my PC from HP, so do i need to contact HP about this or is it seagate? Also my vista64 was preloaded onto it and i never had the option for bootable discs so if im sent a new HD will that be on it or do i need to buy a new OS? the other data on it im not bothered about aslong as i can get it back to factory settings so to speak.

Re: Raid Issues

sputnic66,

You can contact HP for acquiring the HP Recovery Disks. HP Recovery Disks.

Contact Seagate about data recovery. They do offer that service.

Hi sputnic66,

A local PC repair shop should be able to give you a quote if you don't want to replace the hard drive yourself.

I new hard drive should be less than $100. www.newegg.com  has lots of hard drives.  You local electronics store should also card hard drives.

These example HP "how-to" articles might be helpful.  What is your exact HP PC model?
