Problem with graphics chipset intel 82945G

I am experimenting a tremendous "lag" while playing any game (such as Counter Strike 1.6). I've noticed that the performance is not the same because the fps rate has decreased a lot. I thought it was my configuration of the game, but I checked it and it was ok. Then I checked the graphics properties and I saw that there was a change. Instead of showing "256" of available memory, it shows "0". Then I looked in my bios utility to check if the value for the graphics memory had decreased, and so it did. So I tried to change it again but it only let me switch between "1" mb or "8" mb! I don't know what happened but I just cannot increase my graphics memory. This is the information for support:

Computer model: HP Pavilion a6100la
Processor: Intel Pentium D925 at 3.4 Ghz

Ram Memory: 1.015 Mb (it says in windows, which means that the memory for video is 8)

OS: Windows Vista Home Basic 32 bits

Thank you very much, in advance, for all the help you may provide to solve this awful problem!

Re: Problem with graphics chipset intel 82945G

hi

where exactly do you see "Instead of showing "256" of available memory" ?

in device manager everythin ok ? no yellow or red marks ?

if you press start - run - (type) dxdiag

press on tab "display" , whats on "Approx total memory:" ?

and what it says about "name" and "chip type" ?

Re: Problem with graphics chipset intel 82945G

Thanks for your answer! I have checked and as I said, it says 251 aprox. memory. But what I am really concerned is about the BIOS utility which gives me only two options for video shared memory (1mb and 8mb). And perhaphs, that's what is making my pc to lag in games! I appreciate all the help you may provide. Thanks in advance.

Mael, I don't know why you can't set the BIOS differently.  However, you should upgrade to the maximum amount of memory for your motherboard, 2GB.  Also, you should think about upgrading to a standalone video card.  You would have to buy a PCI card.  Even with these upgrades, your computer will not be a great gaming machine.  It simply wasn't intended for that purpose.
