Question About Upgrading my Processor cq5210f

[ Edited ]

Hello every one! I just recently upgraded to a Gts450 and would like to upgrade my cpu. My mother board is Narra5 or

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01701270&lc=en&dlc=&cc=us&lang=&product=4006186

My current Processor is the AMD Athlon™ II X2 215 which is an AM3 CPU.

But, my motherboard is an AM2+ socket now i know they are backwards compatible if your BIOS is updated for am3. My question is since my cpu is already an AM3 would I be able to upgrade to an AMD Phenom II X4 925 Deneb 2.8 GHZ Its Socket is Am3 like my athlon and its Wattage is 95 which my mother board can support. My  mother board can also support AMD Phenom II x4 quad core according to HP!

My PC is Compaq cq5210f!

I have the same pc as you and recently installed that processor you are interested in. Installation was fine and it works great. You will notice a big difference in general tasks and gaming moving up to that quad. I hope you replaced the psu when doing these upgrades. Between that card and processor alone. It will pull more power then what the stock psu can handle under full load. The max wattage the mobo can handle is 95w for a cpu. So, you are safe going with that processor as I did.

Bad cpu, installation or you need a bigger power supply. That stock 250w is wimpy.
