RAM problems in Compaq Presario SR1931IL

I am using Compaq Presario SR1931IL.

It has an ECS R410-M motherboard...specs say it has single-channel memory architecture...

i tried 1GB 667 MHz + 512 MB 533 MHz =only 1GB was detected....

i also tried 1GB 667 MHz + 256 MB 667 MHz =only 1GB was detected....

but two 256 MB 667 MHz works fine.

i can't find the reason of this behaviour of my motherboard...can anyone tell me the reason?

i want the first combination(stated above) to work....can anyone help me?

Note - 1GB is double-sided..and i have tried swapping the RAM positions in each one of them...

Hi,

Maximum memory for this motherboard is 2GB. PC2-4200 DDR2 is required. The easies methhod is to buy the memory from HP.

The first combination is unlikely to work. On an AMD motherboard it would probably work.

This link is to a company which sells memory and lists the brand and part numbers that should work on your motherboard.

I don't know where you can purchase these in your country.

regards,

erico
