Re: When I turn on my, Pavilion S5360F Slimline any monitor is blank, why or how?

I bought a slimline S5360F desktop that was supposed to be in good working order.  However, just as soon as I got it, the pc turns on, the indicator lights perpetually flicker, all the fans run, etc.  The problem is that I have yet to get any monitor to work, new and old monitors as well as various brand new cables.  I am not even able to get started by accessing the BIOS to begin to troubleshoot and have done everything that has been suggested to do.  The monitors always show that they are in stand-by or power-saving mode, but always the screens are blank.  I know that the monitors are not at fault.  I am not even sure that the brand new mouse and keyboard are recognized.  I am just wondering where I need to start, and at this point am assuming that the motherboard is bad, otherwise I should at least be able to get the BIOS screen to appear.  Am I correct in assuming that the issue is the motherboard?  I have priced the exact motherboard and have found them to be very expensive, more than I can spend as I blew my wad on getting this computer and to replace the MB with the exact model is ranging in cost from $150 to $600.  Is there an acceptable replacement board that I could look at to replace the one that is in it that would work with this model?  I am sure the processor is good (but that would be the next step) and I think the 3 modules of RAM are working.  (I did remove and reseat each module one by one and still nothing, even with changing the RTC battery and resetting the CMOS.

I have no recovery discs, not that that would do anything because I cannot even see that anything is even going on with everything loading.  There was a new install of Win 7 premium.  If I were able to access the BIOS, I would update it, but since no monitors work, there is no way to do that.  I have tried the repeatedly hitting the F10 button, etc., and still nothing, so I am left to believe the MB has gone bad.

Am I on the right track in thinkg this, or am I missing something, or is there a recommendation on how to further proceed?  Are there any boards that I could look at to replace the Violet 6 that is in it that would fit the chasis, and perhaps even forget about the proprietary set-up and just do a clean install of Win 7 once I have replaced the MB if that is what I need to do?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Tab Davis
