Record Now not reading HP DVD Writer 1140r as recordable devise

Record Now message  says no compatible recordable devise found on system. Did all the troubleshooting & uninstalled, rebooted, new hardware found, still same message.  Devise mgr. reads drive HP DVD Writer 1140r but Record now only sees it as a player, not the recordable like it used to.

Does the optical drive appears in device manager without any other problem, no conflict? If you go to properties, is there any error?

Did it worked before? When did the problem started to occur do you know?

Have you tried to install any other burning application on your system? What about removing your version of record now or just trying to see if there is an update version available and see if that helps?

Do remove the SW in case you have not tried it, try to install it again, then if it fails, try to update it, if it fails, try to install Nero.

What is your computer model do you know?

What is the full model number of your PC?

Have you right clicked on the device in Computer and on the recording tab made sure the enable recording box is checked?

Pavilion 750n. Yes. The message asks about downloading driver updates, but when I did the one listed for it, it says it can't install because the drive is for a 1140t & I have 1140r. So I read & did all of the troubleshooting. Making sure the recording tab is checked, changing the registry from a #2 to #1. Uninstalling the drive & rebooting so the PC reads new hardware found. Still Record Now says can't find a recordable or rewriteable drive on my system. But it was working fine last month when I used it.

Palivion 750n. There is no conflict in the devise mgr. Have not installed anything new. Last new hardware was this HP DVD Writer 1140r in Dec of 2010 & up until last Fri. it has worked everytime. Used it last month. The update for the driver download says it is for my driver but after the download it says it can't install because it is for 1140t only & i have 1140r. Have not looked for an update for Record Now or Nero. Waht is SW?

Hi:

I was thinking maybe your model needed a storage controller driver so the recording program could see the drive.  But your PC won't need that.

Did you try another DVD burning software program?

I love this one. It is simple to use and free.

Thanks, downloaded the CD Burner from your link & it worked great! Made all the copies I needed too. I just knew that the problem was not that I needed a new DVD like the HP customer service rep told me.

What about removing your version of record now or just trying to see if there is an update version available and see if that helps?

I have told before for you to try to uninstall Record Now and try to install it, sometimes there could be a problem on the some .dll files from the program itself that comunicate with the Optical drive, and therefore either you update those .dll with updating the software or you remove the software to eliminate the communication issue and install it again, will resolve the problem.

Normally the issue is caused by the PXengine, so here you have an updated version, see if it works with the version f REcord Now you have:

Also, fullk install application for RecordNow, altough its for NB see if you can install this in case the update above does not resolve or even removing the softwrae did not work:

Can you check what is the Record Now version you have installed on your computer, so that I can better help you on this?

Hi,  Another person gave me a link to download CDBurnerXP & that worked great. I did your update & no change. If I uninstall Record Now, how do I re-install it? I don't have a disk it came as a built in program with WinXP.
