Recovery partition nearly full warning

Hi

I have a HPE 360uk PC with Win 7 Pro 64 & 8GB RAM.

There was, from new, an HP recovery partition (D) & this has become red in explorer & I am getting warnings that it is low on disk space. This happened last week, but then the space increased (I don't know why) & all was OK, but I am getting the warning again now. (69.2MB free of 11.8GB)

I have not set up Windows backup as I use Backup Direct. I have made recovery disks.

What should I do? Is it safe to ignore this?

I have turned on view hidden files & folders, but can still see nothing of what is on that drive partition.

I am wondering if System Restore is saving to that partition, & if so, what can I do to stop it?

Thanks

Deb

Re: Recovery partition nearly full warning

Additional information

I have just (through Backup Direct) been able to look at the files on this partition

Under Preload there are a 99 files with consecutive nos all called 10WESUMW611?? all created on 22/7/10 at 07.51 hours

& ranging in size from 14 to 293.3MB. I'm guessing this is why this partition has filled up.

[ Edited ]

Look under System Protection and see if any partition besides C is checked. The C partition should be be the only partition that is check marked.  If the Recovery Partition is checked then uncheck it and reboot.

Re: Recovery partition nearly full warning

Hi

Excuse my ignorance - I am still getting to know my way around Win 7 - 3 weeks in so far - but where do I find that information?

Re: Recovery partition nearly full warning

Deb,

Right mouse click on MY Computer and select properties. Then click on System Protection.  Everything but the C partition should be off.

Re: Recovery partition nearly full warning

Hi

All but C are off.

Any idea what all the 10WESUMW files are? & why they may have been created?
