Hi I have a hp desktop and I want to clone the hard drive for back up. I think the current hard drive is a sata 1 and I was wondering if my computer will take a sata 2 or even 3 and if it does is there any settings I will need to change for it to accept a higher sata. Sorry if this is basic stuff im a proper noob when it comes to stuff like this.
MODEL:G5350UK
PRODUCT:X5612EA#ABU

Your current motherboard has SATA connections. There are no settings that you can change to speed up the SATA interface ports on the motherboard.
The SATA3 devices are backwards compatible with SATA2 and SATA ports. With that said, the SATA speed will remain the same as the interface that the motherboard has.
