Scanjet 5470C and Windows 7 Can I still use this scanner?

Is it possible to find a driver for my Scanjet 5470C that will run on a Windows 7 system?

Sorry,

There are no WIN7 drivers for the ScanJet 5470C.

Re: Scanjet 5470C and Windows 7 Can I still use this scanner?

Yes and no. Not natively, but it WILL work if you install XP Mode, which is how I use mine. That said, it's enough of a pain to use that I'll eventually get a new scanner.

I do have to add that HP should release FULL documentation on the scanner protocol to allow third parties to write drivers - such as the SANE project. It USED to be the case that programming information like this was available for all hardware, but due to the dominance of Windows, now all that information is a "secret" by hardware manufacturers. Boo Hiss! Too much old yet perfectly good hardware ends up in landfills due to this policy. It does make for a lot of sales of new scanners though. You can probably buy a new scanner today and be out of luck for Windows 8 or 9... Yay.
