Screen goes black with computer still runnning a6755y, w2207h [ Edited ]

I have just recently purchased a Hp Pavillion Special Edition a6755y, with a Hp w2207h monitor. The computer runs fine for usually about 15 or 20 mins then the screen just goes black. All the lights are still on, just completely un-responsive. Any help would be appreciated!

1) Does this happen while you use the pc or not?

By default the monitor will turn off after 15-20 minutes of idle time unless you touch the mouse or keyboard. It's called sleep mode/hibernation (lower power state modes).

2) When this happens can you bring up the display by turning the lcd back off and on?

3) Try doing a hard reset by turning off the pc tower, unplug the power cable, hold in the power button for 10 seconds while off, put back the cable and turn it back on.

Also make sure the pc has a solid green power supply light in the back of the pc.

Did you ever get this resolved?  I am having the same problem.  It deffinite;y appears to be an issue with the monitor.  When I connect a different monitor is works fine.  My monitor is only 2-3 months old.

I'm having the same problem...2 different times.

I bought my HP Desktop computer, and it came with a w2207h 22" monitor.

It worked fine for 10 months, when all of the sudden the monitor started malfunctioning. HP support gave me a "brand new" one.

The new monitor, worked fine 3 hours and then started presenting the same symptons: black screen, but the blue light one, no OSD, no matter if I use HDMI or VGA Cable. Tried connecting it to different desktop PC and laptops.. no luck.

I called HP support again, and they changed it again.. for a "brand new" one... again...

Imagine my surprise when this new monitor present the same problem.... three malfunctioning monitors?

Any ideas?? Is it possible that the reference w2207h is defective? Please help.

Something interesting is that the 2 times I called support, they changed the monitor easily... no questions asked.

it sound like they are sending you a refurbish one

and with repeated same problem 

ask them to send you another type 

if not then see if you get another monitor of a different type 

i have both of the w2207(with DVI) and w2207h and have not any problems with it 

and have them for about a year 

 and i also have a samsung 23" monitor and have no trouble with it either 

and it has a very good color and does well for me

I have had the w2207h monitor for about a year and a half and I have not had any problems with it until recently. I have used it at 1360 x 768 just out of preference. Several months ago I thought I would try 1650 x 1050 and that is when I started having problems with the monitor. My video card is not that old and it can handle the 1650 x 1050 setting fine.

I noticed that the monitor would just turn off or go black with the power button still green not on standby. It doesn't wake up, and the computer is still running as if nothing has gone wrong. The only way to bring the monitor back is to shut down the computer and start it up again. This has occurred several times with me away from the computer and with me actually using the computer. Another weird sypmtom is that you could hear the monitor clicking as if it was having trouble maintaining the sync or refresh rate of 1650 x 1050.

Lately, the monitor has been quiet and has not malfunctioned. I am a update freak and I think the latest HP driver update on MS update has fixed the problem. The latest HP monitor driver version on MS update is 3.0.0.0. I hope that was it. I don't know.

I tried the hard power reset, and it worked for about an hour.  I restarted the computer and it went through the start up restore and seemed to be working fine.  I left the room for a bit and when I came back it had the blue error screen up...So I resarted it again, and got the black screes.  I also tried the hard power reset again and still got a blank screen....not sure what to do now, please help if you can!!!
