How much memory can I add to this system. And part number for

Here are the a824n specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docnam
Your a824n supposedly shipped with (2) 512MB modules. You need to check what speed DDR memory is installed, ie DDR PC2700 or DDR PC3200.
Use this program to verify, CPUID (CPU-Z): http://www.cpuid.com/
Upgrade memory: http://www.4allmemory.com/memory/compaq-hp-pavilio
Your machine should have 2 slots empty. All memory should be the same speed.
If your machine has DDR PC3200, then I would only add the (2) 1 GB memory kit, as 32bit machines can only access about 3.25-3.5GB of installed memory.
If your machine has DDR PC2700, then PC3200 will default to the lower speed. In that case, you have to chose between that scenerio, or adding all new modules, ie two sets of (2) 1GB pairs of PC3200.
Also, if you have not performed a disk cleanup and defragment, I would do so now.
