Hi guys,

I have a few T5000 series thin clients which I haven't had any trouble with using Windows 98 or XP.  However I plugged a Creative soundblaster CT4810 PCI card into the PCI slot (using a short extender) which causes the HP not to be able to sense any input from the keyboard under DOS (windows 98 command prompt boot).

However the keyboard works fine under Windows 98.  I have tried PS2 keyboard and USB keyboard under DOS and they never work if I boot up with the sound card plugged in.  If I turn it off, unplug the card and boot to DOS, the keyboard works again (whether USB or PS2).  I have tried all different configurations in the BIOS with USB keyboard and mouse turned off and on and PS2 keyboard does not work even with the USB side of things turned off.

I have also disabled onboard audio, network, serial port, parallel port, etc. and can never get a keyboard to work when the PCI slot is being used.

The sound card works perfectly.  If I boot up with the PCI card plugged in, the DOS drivers find the sound card, but I get no keyboard so the unit is not useable!

I understand these units came with an optional PCI extension case, but how can the unit work when the PCI card seems to take over the keyboard address?

Can anybody please offer some ideas for getting this to work?

Why can't the unit even use a PS2 keyboard and PCI card?  Don't these things have dedicated address for the hardware?  Thank you for any help.

Hi The-dave,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure, I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums, since this is a commercial product. You can do this at
