Test my HP Personal Media Drive

Is possible to test my HP PMD 160 GB, I want to know if the external HDD is OK, if does not have bad sectors or is dying?

I read about chkdsk /f command but I do not know how to use to check my media

TIA

Re: Test my HP Personal Media Drive

If you can see the disk within My Computer you should be able to run the program using a windows GUI. Right-click on the disk's icon, select properties and then the Tools tab. Under Error checking select check now.

That is the simplest way of using chkdsk in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

Otherwise you can type this chkdsk X: /f  at the command line or the searchj box in Windows Vista or Windows 7 or XP.  Replace the X with the drive letter that corresponds to your disk.
