HP Compaq 8200 Elite Convertible mini-tower.
Just purchased a good video card and the minimum PSU wattage is 550 and the stock is 320. Went and bought a 750 watt power supply and noticed that the ends don't match up to the HP PSU. Typically there is a 20/24 pin connector for the MB power but there is only a 6 pin connector on the HP PSU and what looks like to be a six pin power switch.
Please help!!! I want to get this video card humming!!!

Hi:
If you do a search on this forum and the HP business forum, you will find several upset folks in your situation that cannot find power supplies that will work in the 8000, 8100 and 8200 Elite business desktops.
I installed the AMD Radeon HD 6570 in my 8200 Elite with the stock P/S, and it works just fine for me.
Good luck with your hunt. If you find one that will work, please post back and share your success story.
Paul

Hi all, had same problem on brunch of HP Compaq 8200 Elite CMT PCs. Needed to upgrade graphics cards to improve performance for graphics designers and was stuck because of lack of 12v power for graphics card from the stock HP 320W PSU.
Best graphics card we could install was an NVidia 210 but that wasn't enough for the Graphics Designers! ![]()
The 8200's use a motherboard which is non-ATX standard so a standard PSU upgrade will not work as noted above. We were stuck with the standard HP 320W PSU. Can't find a HP upgrade PSU.
Solved the problem by installing a dedicated Graphics Card PSU (search for LR-GPU-PSU-KIT) as well as the stock PSU, which gave upto 450W of power for Graphics Card with the HP stock PSU providing 320W power for motherboard, drives etc. The Graphics PSU kit can support multiple graphics card (upto 4) within the 450W limit. Fit's in spare 5.25" CD-ROM bay. (I had to move DVD-RW down to bottom slot and have the Graphics PSU in middle slot, as it wouldn't seat home in the bottom CD-ROM bay as it is quite deep and knocked into motherboard mounting bolt.). Both PSUs are linked so when HP PSU turns off it turns off Graphics PSU. Has it's own power feed/lead.
The HP 8200 Elites are now running with NVidia GTX 550-Ti which gives a Windows Experience Index of 7.3 for both Graphics components. I have now have happy Graphics Designers! ![]()

Hi,
I have a HP 8200 Elite Convertible Mini Tower.
I recently purchased a Power Edition GEFORCE GTX 660 TI for this computer. Here’s a link to the product. http://www.amazon.com/MSI-Overvoltage-N660TI-PE-2G
As you likely know, I can’t power it with the 8200 Elite’s power supply so I took it to the local computer parts store and they told me the motherboard is proprietary and they had no replacement power supplies that would work. Is this who you bought your CDROM bay power supply from? http://cs.logic-rapid.co.uk/Products/tabid/243/Def
Thanks!!!

I ended up buying this from Amazon, it is a 5.25 CDROM bay power supply to power my GTX 660TI in my HP 8200 Elite CMT. It is called a
FSP SLI and CrossFire Upgrade 450 Watt ATX Power Supply BOOSTER X5

If you have an HP 8200 Elite, you will have to purchase a SATA to Molex power connnector to connect the HP power supply to this one. They are cheap, 6 bucks on Amazon. They are called
