I have a HP Pavilion Media Center TV m7650n Desktop PC with the original TV tuner.
Has anyone upgraded theirs to record HDTV and can recommend a tuner card that's compatible with the front panel video/audio jacks?
-Thanks.

Hey I have some encouraging news for you. I am currently using a HD tuner in media center on Vista 64. It was a little tricky before I got it to work. I currently have an HP s3530f computer that I am using as my HTPC. I removed the ATSC tuner that came with it. I put in a ATI TV Wonder 650 (I had to buy a half height bracket) and let the computer find the proper drivers. This tuner supports clear QAM. I managed to find and download "Media Center 2008 TV Pack" online. Be aware once this is installed it can not be uninstalled. This site had lots of useful information:

At this point media center would still not identify a QAM tuner. Now this is where serendipity played a role. I also had a Pinnacle PCTV HD Stick. I tried to get this tuner to work so I installed the Pinnacle TVCenter Pro 4.98 software. Once this software was installed Media Center found the ATI tuner as a QAM tuner. I could even uninstall the Pinnacle TVCenter software and Media Center will continue to idenitfy the QAM tuner. Now media center works exactly as I hoped. I am able to record HD programs that I receive via cable that are clear QAM signals (un-scrambled). I hope this helps. Good luck!
