Upgraded USB 3.0 Card. Are all other slots USB 2.0 on the computer? HPE-570t

I just go the HPE-570t with the i7-2600. I got the factory USB3.0 card. There are only 2 slots on the card. Are all other slots on the computer, including the front ones USB 2.0? I'm assuming it is. Do they sell USB 3.0 extension cords that are reasonably priced? My computer is behind my desk and its hard to get to the back.

Thanks.

Hello spenceryuan, Here  is a link to NewEgg where these extention cables can be found.

I'm sure there are other vendors that sell them as well.

Re: Upgraded USB 3.0 Card. Are all other slots USB 2.0 on the computer? HPE-570t

The HPE-570t is a CTO unit, meaning it is a custom order configuration. The front ports can be specified as either USB 2.0 or USB 3.0, depending on choice. The addition of USB 3.0 on the front required a separate USB 3.0 card.

Re: Upgraded USB 3.0 Card. Are all other slots USB 2.0 on the computer? HPE-570t

I opened up the computer and saw the USB 3.0 add on card in there with the port in th eback. I'm a little dissapointed to know that the USB 3.0 is in the back. When they listed the USB 3.0 option with the 15-1 card reader, I assumed the USB 3.0 was in the front. During customization it deceives you into thinking it is in the front.

HP should do a better job clarifying where the USB 3.0 will be.

Re: Upgraded USB 3.0 Card. Are all other slots USB 2.0 on the computer? HPE-570t

Front Productivity Ports Must select one of the following options:

  • 15-in-1 card reader + 1394 + 1 USB + 1 headphone jack + 1 microphone jack
  • 15-in-1 card reader + 1394 + 1 USB 3.0 (via add on card) + 1 headphone jack + 1 microphone jack
  • 15-in-1 card reader + 1394 + 1 USB + Audio L/R + S-video + Composite Video + 1 headphone jack + 1 microphone jack
  • 15-in-1 card reader + 1394 + 1 HP USB 3.0 (via add on card) + Audio L/R + S-video + Composite Video + 1 headphone jack + 1 microphone jack
  •

I snagged the CTO reference. It stated the option of USB3.0 via add on card. This module should have a lead running back to the card. Also, the USB port in the module should have additional pins for USB3.0

You definitely have a valid case.

Re: Upgraded USB 3.0 Card. Are all other slots USB 2.0 on the computer? HPE-570t

Hi, sorry to hijack this thread, but I have the feeling the original poster, or someone responding can help me.  I ordered my usb 3.0 pci express card from HP Tech support recently to upgrade my HPE 460Z build to order machine.  It was an option that I didn't take at the time of ordering.

When they sent it to me, it did not come with a driver cd.  I've been in multiple tech support chats trying to find someone at HP who can get me the drivers I need to use my new usb 3.0 card.  Can someone here help me?

I am running WIndows 7 Pro 64 bit.
