Hello,

I bought my HP Pavilion s5510y at my best buy here in town and

I am wondering if it would be possible to upgrade my graphics card on my desktop?

Hi,

The cards that you mentioned will not fit and the power supply requirement is way too high for a slimline PC cabinet.

Perhaps it's time to think about a replacement PC if you want a big, go fast video card.

Hi:

You only have a 220W power supply in that model, so it will be difficult to find a low profile graphics adapter that is better than your onboard graphics that only recommends a 200 - 250W power supply.

I have a Dell 530s that has the Intel GMA 3100 onboard graphics. It only has a 250W power supply.

I bought a used Radeon 2400 HD 256 MB low profile card for mine on eBay, and it is better than my GMA 3100.

I just don't know that you have many options.

Hi,

Look here at HP Partsurfer for video cards that are used in the newer Slimline models with a 220 watt power supply.  These cards were manufactured specially for HP Slimline PCs with 220 watt power supplies.

I wouldn't consider any of the above video cards to be "gamer" quality.  They will be better than on board video but still not gamer quality.  Some games might be OK on medium settings.

Anything other than the above video cards would probably require a power supply upgrade and even then you will still not get enough power and a low profile video card that is gamer quality.

I knoticed that I forgot to mention that my HP Pavilion s5510y has the nVidia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 card factory installed, what i was wondering is, would i be able to upgrade to any of these graphics cards for my PC:

GeForce GTX 550 Ti, GeForce GTX 560, or the GeForce GTX 570 without problems, or would i have to upgrade to a bigger case for my card upgrade?

  • Vibe Radeon HD 6xxx 512MB DDR3 LP
  • NVIDIA GeForce 405 1GB DDR3 LP PCIex16
  • NVIDIA GT530 2GB DDR3 LP (Challenger2)
  • NVIDIA GeForce 520 (1GB) LP PCIe x16

among the four available, which would have the best performance? i'm looking to play a game that has nVidia GeForce FX 6600 as its recommended video card. (nVidia GeForce FX 5200 minimum)

Hi,

The NVIDIA GT530 is going to be the best performer.

I don't believe that the FX 6600 ever made it to the mainstream market.  Maybe as an AGP card but that is years old.
