Upgrading Power supply and video card

I have a HP Pavilion Elite HPE-410t

I am a stock trader and want to run 3 montiors with a a Diamond 6670.

The card is 7 in long and a double wide, although it looks like the fan is what takes up the extra space

I need to upgrade the power supply.  I see Corsair recommended, but I found one post that said HP had unique wiring of a 24 pin connector that wouldn't allow 3rd party PSU's.

Will the corsair and the card fit?

Thanks.

Hi,

The Corsair CX500 or CX600 shouldn't be a fit problem for your PC.

Diamond make three differnet models of the 6670.  You will need to use the card that has a display port to support three monitors using ATI EyeFinity.  Check with Diamond and get a recommendation.

As previously stated, the Corsair CX500 and/or CX600 will fit in your case without issue. To clarify your concern that the 24 pin M/B connector is unique to HP... HP's full sized consumer grade product use a standard ATX connector. The video card should fit but it appears that it only supports two displays at the same time even though it has three output ports. Almost all video cards of this class will require the use of one or more DisplayPort outputs to support 3 or more monitors.

Depending on what video card option you selected, the system may already support three monitors. The Radeon HD 5770 (2 GB) with DVI, HDMI, Displayport, and VGA via adapter card appears the only option that came with the DisplayPort technology. If you aren't looking for a powerful card for gaming and only wish to use a third display for stock trading, the eVGA UV Plus+ 19 USB-to-video device should do the trick.

Re: Upgrading Power supply and video card

Thanks to Dave and Frank  The multiple models with different specs escaped my notice.  The 3 monitor Diamond card seems to be on backorder.

Does the USB adaptor create a 3rd display or do you have to extend the display from one of the other monitors?

Re: Upgrading Power supply and video card

I haven't used one but it claims it can mirror, extend and/or rotate. I take "mirror" to mean display the same image as on another monitor. I take "extend" to mean display a new image above, below, left or right of an existing image.
