Upgrading m9368hk GPU and PSU

Bought the m9368hk that came with the very disappointing nvidia 9300GE and a 300W PSU. Disappointing isn't the word as I've found it can't play any game with a reasonably intense graphics experience that was brought out after late 2007. Assasins Creed, Fallout 3 etc, nothing will run on it.

Consequently, I find I have to upgrade the GPU and probably the PSU. Entirely my fault of course  as I really should have looked around a little more diligently at other suppliers etc but I made the mistake of thinking a 9 series card would be a performance card when the 9300GE is the runt of the litter. I can't even find any information on it on nvidia's site.

Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone out there has a suggestion as to what would suit my needs in terms of upgrades and whether carrying out an upgrade would void the warranty that came with the machine?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Upgrading m9368hk GPU and PSU

After reading up on the subject a bit, I'm wondering whether I could get away with upgrading the GPU without changing the PSU?

Re: Upgrading m9368hk GPU and PSU

I had the extact problem. My system came with a 9300 GE and a 350 watt PSU. I could find no reference of the 9300 GE on Nvidia's website and later found out that it is just a rebadged Nvidia 8400. After a lot of goggle miles I came to the conclusion that there where only a few cards that would fit comfortably in my case. the ATI 4 series and the Nividia 9 series single slot (low profile) solutions. I went with the Nvidia 9600 GSO 768 mb GDDR3. They are around 9 inches long and only take up one slot. I upgraded the PSU just in case. I'd read a sticky that said a GOOD 350w PSU would be enough to power a Nvidia 9 series but why sweat it when you can find a good one really cheap these days and not have that to worry about in the future. To upgrade both cost me $130.00. My 22 inch monitor only supports 1680X1050 and my new card's max is 2560x1600 for dual monitors so it should be sufficient to run most of today's game at a decent rate or at least a lot better than the 9300 GE did.
