Want to upgrade video card. Need advice

HP-Pavilion HPE-210y
Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate x86, SP 1
I want to upgrade my video card to Nvidia GTX 480. But in order to set it I need to increase power supply. So my question is : what do I need to buy else in order to install ths video card with minimum expenses? Do I need to change my motherboard, processor or anything else?

Micosa,

The first thng you need to know is that the GTX480 exceeds the length of your motherboard.

The EVGA is 10.5", and the ASUS is 11". That said, you need to measure your board + case limits. See these.

Board: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01925486&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=4160015

How to measure: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware/Guide-for-Selecting-a-Discrete-Video-Card/td-p/1299011

If it would fit, you need a PSU with 600W min and 12V @ 42 A. that will fit in that case:

or

Nothing else.

PS> why are you not at Vista SP2?

Re: Want to upgrade video card. Need advice

Generally what wb2001 said. Also, may I ask, why a 480? I believe the 560 (believe, I'm not comparing specs right now) is better and around the same price. And if price is the whole goal of this go with AMD instead.
