What is the max amount of memory in a pavilion P6020 - Upgrade to Win8 ?

I cannot find what the maximum amount of memory can be placed in the Pavilion P6020.

As there's a need to do a re-install the OS that came withe the System (Vista), I Would like check whether it makes sens to upgrade the system to Win8-64 bit and increase the memory from 3GB to 4 or even better 6GB.

Currently the system has 3GB of memory (1x1GB & 1x2GB), the way it came delivered.

This config really makes the system relative slow lately.

Re: What is the max amount of memory in a pavilion P6020 - Upgrade to Win8 ?

Hi, Peter:

There are several variations of the P6020.

I believe they all have the same specifications which indicate the maximum memory you can install in the PC is 2 x 2 GB of memory (4 GB).

Before you "sign on the dotted line," to buy Windows 8, go ahead and start the download and it will first run an upgrade advisor to check your PC and report any incompatibilities.

Your PC is more than likely not going to be supported by HP with windows 8 drivers. My main concern would be the video adapter, not having drivers available.

There are actually 4 different motherboards used in the p6020xx model of computers. The motherboard and it's limitations (including max memory) depend on the exact model name. Please provide the full model name and/or product number for the HP computer in question for an accurate answer and assistance.

Re: What is the max amount of memory in a pavilion P6020 - Upgrade to Win8 ?

Thanks so far for the information. The kudos have been given

It's a P6020nl (Netherlands), System # NM793AA-ABH

The mb has HP P/N 517069-001

Printed on the mb: MS - 7525 Ver 1.0

Assuming I might not be able to install more than 4GB of memory, best change in improving speed is to get an SSD to install the OS on.

Hi:

The information I posted was correct.  4 GB for your model (2 x 2 GB).
