Hi,

These are the techncial specifications for the HP HPE h8-1240t.  The specifications make this PC a "giant" killer.  The Intel socket is probably the 1155 as it also support the i7-2600.

The below image is the "Formosa" motherboard.

Formosa motherboard.jpg

PCI-E x16 3.0

4 SATA III ports plus 4 SATA II ports

RAID capable

Up to three hard drives

USB 3.0

Power supplies up to 600 watts

Pump fan connector --- water cooling but the configurator doesn't show that option

Up to the Radeon 7950 in the above techncial specifications but the configurator doesn't show the 7950

Downsides:  Where is the support for 32 GB using 8 GB dimms? How about 1600 MHZ dimms?

I looked at this for another poster concerning his h8-1240t and he only ID'd the board as being made by "IPMMB-FM". I recognized this as motherboard model, searched it, and the only references were to HP TouchSmart 610-xxxx all-in-one computers. This threw me, as I thought the board was a custom design for an AIO and it shouldn't be in a mid-sized desktop.

Thank you. I received a similar response, but your photo of the MB is much clearer, as it labels all the connectors. Very helpful and much appreciated.

Re: What motherboard motherboard is in pavillion hpe h8xt with ivy bridge

That image shows that it has 2 SATA 6.0 gbps ports and 4 SATA 3.0 gbps ports, however the HP specs for this board just show 6 SATA 2.0, which only supports 3gbps.

Can anyone confirm there are actually 2 6.0gbps ports?

Re: What motherboard motherboard is in pavillion hpe h8xt with ivy bridge

I tried to connect my SSD drive to port 4 (red) - it is definetly SATA II according to drive speed test.

When connected to port 1 (white) I got maximum speed for my SSD, so I believe this port is SATA III.

Looks like this motherboard has same specs as IPISB-CH2 (Chicago) motherboard http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/ipisb-ch2/ .

I didn't test, but if this is true SATA ports are:

4 * SATAII 3Gb/s connectors
SATA 2/3/4/5
3Gb/s transfer speed – Supports four SATAII ports  (Orange/Light Blue/Black/Red Color)
RAID: 0/1/ Support

SATA 0/1
2 * SATAIII 6Gb/s connectors
6Gb/s transfer speed- Supports two SATAIII ports (White/Blue Color)

Re: What motherboard motherboard is in pavillion hpe h8xt with ivy bridge

The colors you listed don't seem to match up with what the diagram says. It says the SATA III ports are the red and black.

I have my SSD plugged into SATA 0 (which is the dark blue one on the diagram -- I think mine matches up) but haven't tested the speeds yet. What did you use to test?
