I've bought a 2.5" 240gb sata 3 drive and a 2.5-3.5" adapter. I've only got sata 2 board but the ssd was same price as sata3. My computer is pavillion p6360uk.
I assumed the drive would come with cabling but it seems like I need a sata data cable so I have a few questions;
Does it make a difference if its sata 2 or 3? - Its a sata 3 drive but sata2 motherboard
Theres a spare slot on the motherboard labelled sata so I guess it goes there?
Does one end need to angled?
It looks like theres a spare power cable coming from a splitter so I do use that and I run it off the same supply as the existing hard drive?
Thanks

Hi, Steve:
The cable doesn't matter SATA II or III.
I see the picture of the motherboard. The data cable would plug in to the unoccupied SATA port on the motherboard which makes the decision pretty easy for you. Many motherboards have 4 sata ports and you would have to plug it in the port labeled SATA 1, not just any of the remaining 3.
Does one end of the cable have to be angled...That depends on where the second hard drive is going. If the one you have now is angled and the other drive will be on top or beneath the current drive, then I would imagine that the second drive's sata cable needs to have one end angled too, so as to not get crimped when you close the case.
And, yes, just use the second black power connector on the same wire as the one on your other hard drive. Depending on how you place the other drive, you may need to move the one power connector from the original drive to the new one.
The SATA data cable should have a part number on it. I would see if I could get the same cable as that one (if the drive is going to be in the same relative area as your existing one), and get it on eBay.
Measure your current cable and get an approximate length if you think you need the same one for the secondary drive.

You will need an adapter cable similar to THIS ONE. You may also need a 2.5" to 3.5 drive bay adapter.
