When I put cds or dvds in my computer they come up as files instead of playing

I am having a problem playing dvds and movies on my hp pavillion computer ,whenever I put in a dvd or cd it comes up as a bunch of files in a folder which are unplayable.When I try to open it in my windows media player it says other media instead of showing a disc icon that i could usually click to play. What can I do to fix this problem ? I have 2 disc drives and the computer is only 3 months old and it is running on windows 7.

Hi,

 

New machine should have DVD player software. Anyway, you may want to try one of these:
