Current OS is Windows XP SP3.
I have previously been given to understand by HP Support that an 80GB drive would be compatible, but I'm unclear as to whether it would have to be a 5400RPM drive, or if a 7200RPM drive would suit.

Hi,
Two main things you need to consider: size and connector. 7200rpm is faster therefore getting better I/O speed for you. Stick with 7200rpm if you could find ịt
