about ram consumption

I had a computer from Hp model no hp elite 7100 mt system hav 8 gb ddr 3 ram but if i check in the property of my compute its showing 3.96 GB usable why its showing like that

If you are running Windows 7 try the following;

 

type "msconfig" in the search box at the bottom of the start menu

click on the "boot" tab

click on the "Advanced options" button

uncheck the "Maximum memory" box

click "OK"

 

That should do it

Still I have the same problem 

still it showing

like this 

installed Memory: 8 gb(3.96gb usable)

Please give me a perfect solution for this i am using 8 computer like this bus nothing like tihs showing abt the ram all are hp elite networked

Are you running 32-bit version of Windows? 32-bit can only read up to 4 GB, When you would use 64 -bit, and try following: type "msconfig" in the search box at the bottom of the start menu click on the "boot" tab click on the "Advanced options" button uncheck the "Maximum memory" box click "OK" it would work

Hi,

 

It's a limitation of the "FreeDos" OS.

 

Windows 7 32 bit might get you to 3.5 GB max usable.  Windows 7 64 bit would make all of the memory available to the OS. Both versions of Windows might see less if memory is set aside for other uses in the BIOS.

 

If you are running VM then the amount "carved" out for the VM OS is all that you are going to get.
