adding a third drive to HP pavilion e9280t using the expansion bay

I wish to add a third sata drive to my Hp Pavilion e9280t, Model # AW020AV#ABA, for backups using the expansion bay. However, I have notice that I need a HW case for the drive so that it will slide into the expansion bay slot.

What I need to know is the part number for the HW case and the parts breakdown diagram for my computer to confirm the part no provided.

Re: adding a third drive to HP pavilion e9280t using the expansion bay

Hi Daryl,

The expansion bay is actually a 5.25" bay that is typically used for an extra optical drive.  However, you can use this bay for an extra hard drive or SSD by using a 5.25" to 3.5" bay adapter or a 5.25" to 2.5" bay adapter.

The e9280t cabinet also has bays for the HP Pocket Media drive and the Personal Media drive both which as pluggable and portable USB hard drives.  These drives are hard to find at reasonable prices.  You might find them on eBay

Re: adding a third drive to HP pavilion e9280t using the expansion bay

Thank you Big_Dave!

I have used the Personal Media drive for my backups only which runs at the 2.0 USB speeds which makes my backups times to be in the hours. In addition, the drive failed after 2 years of use. I have bought a WD 1TB Sata III drive for my backup drive. I hoping the 3 GB/sec rate will be faster for my backups. My other two slots are being used for C drive shadow set (Raid 1, 2- 500 GB).

Oh well, it looks like the shipping will cost morethan the part.
