Hello! I have tried to find a diagram on HP support, but cant seem to find one. I am using a wireless LAN and I keep getting a message that my wireless device could run faster if I were to hook it up to a 2.0 USB port, and the device manager shows MANY ports that are not in use, and I thought if I hooked it up to one of the rear USB ports, it would be a 2.0, but I got the message again that my wireless LAN should be hooked up to a 2.0 port.
I have a HP Pavilion Elite e9210t CTO Desktop. Can anyone tell me where I should be looking?
Thanks in advance!
Lisa

Lisa,
Usually when a USB 1.0 device is connected to the same USB 2.0 controller then the controller "downshifts" to 1.0 speed. Do you have any other USB devices connected? USB 1.0 devices would be older.
What operating system are you using?

Hi Dave....oops....forgot to mention that ![]()
I am using the Windows 7 64 bit OS.
Its interesting....I got the wireless LAN about 6 months ago, right after I got the Pavillion, and it loses its connection whenever it feels like it and I have to disconnect and reconnect....which is kinda why I was wondering if the 2.0 port is the difference. Its a Cisco wireless N dual-band version adapter and its said to be a USB 2.0 device.
I do have a video cam, printer, backup hard drive, ipod (at times) and wireless keyboard hooked up...I believe all of those are 1.0, and then the wireless adapter and laser mouse that is 2.0.
It makes sense that the 2.0 will downshift when a 1.0 device is hooked up to it, but wonder if all of the ports, or only certain ports are 1.0, which is why I am scratching my head and asking for help.
I appreciate you!
Lisa

You might want to go into Device Manager and do a properties (right mouse click) on each of the USB controller and hubs and look under the advanced tab. You might be able to isolate the the USB 1.0 devices away from the USB 2.0 devices by moving the devices to different ports.
