Thanks, Kupaku48.
Not sure that this is normal; I have several computers and each has an assigned drive letter for the cd/dvd drive which displays on Explorer whether there is a disk in the drive or not.
Also, my cd/dvd software (Easy CD/DVD Burner) shows a message that all drives are set to disabled. I have similar software installed on another computer (which always shows the CD drive) and it works there.

Ok, that depends on if option "Show all folders" is ticked or not in Explorer (left pane).
Is your DVD drive showing up normal in Control Panel --- Device Manager?

Thanks, Kupaku48.
I found that the show all had not been checked so that solved one problem. I still could not get the roxio software to run so I uninstalled/reinstalled and that seems to have resolved the problem.
Thanks to all who responded. I'm glad I found this forum.
