I have a DX2300 . The drive is dead.
1.) I understand there are several types of SATA drives. What types can be used in this pc?
2.) What procedure is necessary to make a Seagate ST31000528AS (7200 RPM SATA drive, 32mb cache) work in this computer?

doncell6,
Excellent choice of drive. I have 6 of them.
Here is a guide, and you need a Torex 15 driver to remove the screws : http://bizsupport2.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/S
Do you have the Recovery disks needed to re-install the OS?

Thank you very much for your reply. I do appreciate your help.
I have the recovery cd's but they make one giant C drive so I install the o/s manually.
The computer is working now.
