how to make a pavilion a6600f recognize a dedicated video card when the on-board video has failed?

HP Pavilion a6600f has a failed on-board NVIDIA GE7100 graphics. No video whatsoever, and no boot cycle (fans run).
I purchased an EVGA NVIDIA GT430, new Power Supply to match the card needs and installed it all.
The computer behaves the same way, no video on the on-board DVI or new Graphics Card DVIs, no boot cycle, and the card's fan doesn't even come on.
How do I make the computer recognize the new card and allow it to work?

Re: how to make a pavilion a6600f recognize a dedicated video card when the on-board video has faile

Hi,

Try the monitor and cable on another PC to be sure that the issue is not a monitor or cable problem.

Make sure that the video card is setting level and down all the into the PCI-E x16 slot. Remove the card and carefully inspect the slot for damage.

Your replacement power supply needs to be 300+ watts with 22 amps on the +12 volt bus.

Try clearing the CMOS.

I already checked all std stuf (I'm a EE), cables, connections, monitor. PCI connector looks fine, first time used, card sits down all the way and click-locked.

Power supply was bought alonh with video card, 400W, 31A on 12V bus.

Cleared CMOS, problem persists.

Hi,

Did you actually try the monitor and cable on another PC?

Try another video card or try the video card in another PC.  It wouldn't be the first time for a DOA video card.

Doesn't sound good or easy to fix.
