hi I have a HP Pavillion Slimline SS5545 UK Desktop PC which I have just installed a dedicated 2GB Graphics card, but when I go into settings it is using the card but also says it is using 1795 mb of shared memory . How do I stop it using the shared memory, I have looked in the Bios nothing in there to turn it off, I have updated the Bios but it still wants to use the shared memory aswell as the dedicated Graphics card can someone help me please !!!

Hi,
Open windows Control Panel, open Performance Information and Tools and click View and print detailed performance and system information.
Under the sub-heading 'Graphics', what is the figure allotted to Dedicated system memory?

hi there it says :- Total availible Graphics Memory 3839 mb
Dedicated Graphics Memory 2048 mb
Dedicated System Memory 0 Mb
Shared system Memory 1791 mb
Thanks
Also says Display Adaptor Type Intel (r) G41 Express Chipset, when the card I have installed into the PCI Express slot is a Nvidia GeForce GT 520 2GB card, and if you go into the bios the Graphics Adaptor is set to PCI-E so it should be using the card i have installed

Hi,
That looks correct. Although there is an amount of Shared memory available, this isn't being reserved ( it would show as deicated system memory ) and in reality will never be accessed. Regarding the fact that Windows still detects the embedded GPU, what are the Graphics and Gaming Graphics scores?
