Re: hpe 115sc cpu temp

Frugl1, welcome to the forum.

I don't believe that the warranty will be voided if you open the case.  Simply be extremely careful.  You should always discharge any static from your body by touching the metal in the case.  If you cause damage it will not be covered.

It sounds like it will be necessary to do a thorough cleaning.  Dust is normally the cause of overheating; especially in smaller mid-size cases.

Please let us know if this solves your problem or not.

Re: hpe 115sc cpu temp

It's too high according to this document:http://solidlystated.com/hardware/core-i7-stock-voltage-and-safe-temperatures/

You need to get it opened, clean out the dust using canned air. (Also read the instructions to lessen liquid being sprayed). Never use a home vac.   Service Manual:http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01835749.pdf

Keeping in might static electricity, keep yourself grounded. Remove the front cover, and inspect for a grill at the bottom. Typical HP airflow is from this grill thru the cabinet, and out the rear mounted fan. Clean all fans.

Re: hpe 115sc cpu temp

Frugl, the next thing you can try is some cable management. Move the cables so they don't block airflow to the CPU and hold them in place with cable ties. It can take some time to locate places to move the cables, but it is worth the effort. The temps are definitely too high.
