i had a hard drive come up bad replaced harddrive with new one and can not get windows to setup

allright this is the second brand new harddrive I have tried and windows will read recovery discs but when gets to software install says windows cann ot be configured on this hardware

What modificaitions have to made to the PC?

What is the make, model and size of the new hard drive?

Is this hard drive attached to motherboard sata port 1 (lun 0)?

Are you running RAID?

Are you using the HP recovery disks?

no modifications made it is a seagate barracuda 1 tb sata 32 mb 7200 rpm 3 gb/s data transfer

it is attached to sata port 1

and not sure what you mean about raid and yes using hp recovery discs

Do you have any other hard drives attached to the motherboard sata ports?

Boot into the bios (F10 setup)  and make sure that the hard drive is recognized.

yes it is recognized I can get it through the discs but the software install is where it goes bad

Hi,

Boot into the bios again and run some diagnostics.  If the diagnostics run clean then try the below suggestion.

Clear the CMOS.

Uninitialized new hard drives at times can be a problem.  Try the below utility.

Cyberlink recovery CD for hard drives. When you have created this CD, insert it into the system that is unable to boot, restart it and wait until you see a window with a green check mark.  Then remove the CD and insert your first Recovery DVD.  Restart the PC and go through the process of installing the Operating System again.  Hopefully it should install properly this time.
