Re: memory upgrade

Hi,

The SPD information for your current dimms is correct.  The base Intel E5800 only has a front side bus (FSB) of 800mhz.  In order to take advantage of the faster memory clocks you would need to upgrade the processor to Intel E8400 processor  as an example which has a FSB of 1333 mhz.

Re: memory upgrade

Hi:

Since you already have 2 GB, I wouild recommend getting another 2 GB module of the same specs (can be from any reputable manufacturer--I would choose Crucial), remove the 1 GB module, replace it with the 2 GB module, and then you will have 4 GB runnng in DDR mode.

2 GB DDR3 modules are inexpensive right now.

Hi,

You probably will not see much of a performance improvement going from 3GB to 4GB.  The CPU-Z image that you posted indicates that dual channel is active.

May might want to look on eBay for the E8400.  You could probably buy the E8400 for under $100 and it has a 6MB cache along with the 1333 mhz front side bus.
