Most if not all HP consumer PCs need a microATX motherboard. They usually measure 9.6" by 9.6"
What model PC and you using?

Download Coretemp and monitor the processor temperature.
Look in the Event Viewer log for critical errors.

This is the motherboard for the HP 519.dk. Is this your motherboard? If yes, then look over the supported processors. The bios will dictate what processors are supported.
