HP Pavilion a804n - computer began working slowly and then cut off one day. I disconnected everything except the monitor. Unplugged power cord - dusted everything off - plugged it back up....it would come on for about 10 seconds and then shut down again. The power button would blink before it turned off. Nothing ever came up on the screen, so I do not have an error to post. Do I need a new power supply? Any ideas?
We bought this computer new 5 or 6 years ago - it always worked great until this issue. Windows XP. 335 Intel Celeron D Processor, 512 MB DDR SDRAM, 80 GB Ultra DMA hard drive, CD-RW drive, DVD-Rom Drive, Intel Extreme integrated graphics with up to 64 MB shared video memory - Nothing has been modified from the original equipment.

AliWood88,
The standard Power Supply (PSU) diagnostic can be found here. Perform each step: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docnam
The stock PSU is here:http://www.power-on.com/atx12v250bt.html
If it confirms a dead PSU, there are choices.
Factory replacement: #5188-2622
new $32: http://www.ascendtech.us/hp-5188-2622-250w-atx-pow
used $19: http://www.txcesssurplus.com/servlet/the-8721/HP-5
