new hard drive not recognized

Hello - I just purchased a HP Pavilion p7-1270t CTO Desktop PC running Win 7 64 bit. 6 GB RAM 1 T 7000 SATA h/d. My problem is that when I attempt to add a second h/d, it it not recognized in BIOS at startup. The drive is spinning and connected correctly, but I can't see it in My Computer when PC boots up.

I have a h/d from my old PC that I piggy-backed in the same fashion which works fine. Using the same connections. What am I doing wrong? Sorry not too familiar with Win 7 yet. Thanks

Hi,

Boot into the bios and look under the Security drop down then Device Security. Make sure all four SATA ports are indicating device available.

Try clearing the CMOS.  Now boot back into the BIOS and look under the Device Configuration for the new hard drive.  If you can't see the hard drive in the bios then you probably have a hardware issue (bad drive, bad cable or bad port).

Now if you now can see the new hard drive in the bios then boot up Windows.  Go to Computer Management and then Disk Management and fully expand the screen.  You should now see the new hard drive but you will probably have to format/initialize it and assign a drive letter.

What is the make, model and size of the new hard drive?
