p6-2065sc external audio works in front usb but not in back

p6-2065sc Win7 64

ESI UGM96 audio  interface with latest driver only works in front usb - not in back. Driver loads, device management shows drivers active and working - no diff in any device info except there is no sound - all apps and system sounds. system acts totally normal - all programs can playback - except there is NO sound. As soon as it is plugged in front usb all is fine.

This sucks!

What to do?

Hi. Try to go to BIOS and make sure all your USB ports are enabled. Some BIOS versions gave the ability to disabled each USB ports.

USB ports works for mouse & keyboard. They are turned on. I you read the problem you will see that device manager seems the audio interface when plugged - it just doesn't work. Only in front - without any configuration changes. There is a difference between the ports in front and in back - what is it?

Re: p6-2065sc external audio works in front usb but not in back

Still have the same problem and still would like to know how to fix it.

What is the difference from the back USB ports to the front USB ports?

It is not a BIOS setting as suggested - device manager sees the interface in both places - the driver install works the same in both places. But there is NO audio in the back ports. Move the USB wire to the back and everything is fine.

I just reinstalled everything with a fresh Win7 and the problem is STILL there.

There must an HP person out there that knows something.
