I just bought a Presario SR5710f and would like to install the two IDE drives from my old computer that died.
There is an unused IDE interface on the motherboard, and power, and plenty of space behind the lower
front panel in the case. Is it possible to get mounting brackets for 3.5" drives that fit the attachment points in the lower front
part of the case?

Yes, you could definitely add the IDE cable on the motherboard and connect the hard drives.
You can add a 2nd HDD to the front panel. There are four mounting holes available for this purpose. (under the front I/Os).
(screws hold the HDD in place).

This HP support document should help you with your hardware install:

just read this link, very helpful. However, after reviewing your HP link on changing the HD I realized that my case does not have the HD cage at the bottom. there is a slot under my optical drive open but I wanted to install another optical to copy other cd's. where can I get a hd cage for my case?
while I am asking, I would like to add a memory card reader panel to my case too. where can I get one?
would it be easier just to get another case and move the componets?
thanks for your advice.

Yes, where to get the HD cage to fit a Presario case is my question also. I don' find any mention of it when I look at the HP computer parts store.
Next time I get into the case I'll look and see if the drives can be attached directly to the side of the case, as one comment suggests.

The link provided earlier showed a video on how to remove the cage you mentioned. My computer does not have that cage either. Strange. I looked at the Parts Surfer page (Link to Parts Surfer for Compaq SR5710f) and didn't see a part number for the cage.
If I find one, I'll post it here.
