Hi I bought a Hp Pavilion A6400F and the usb1 and 2 do not work and I noticed a cable is not connected to a pci card. Does it have to have a card in the pci slot for the front two usb 1 & 2 to work and what are the names or part numbers?

Hi,
Can you describe the cable in more detail? What PCI cards are in your PC?
These are the motherboard specifications for your PC.
The front USB ports are connected to a header on the motherboard.

Hi,
Look at the black and white motherboard layout diagram at the above link. Do you see an empty motherboard header (connector) ? That 9 pin connector might be the 1394 cable that plugs into the motherboard just in front of the two PCI-E 1x slots.

Hi I see a cable all ready in that slot and it looks like it goes to the left most slot for the firewire. Can I remove it and use that?

Hi,
Can you further explain what you mean by one slot?
Did you ever remove any cables and move them? If not, then the cables are probably in the right slots.
Look at the loose nine pin connector and then look closely at your motherboard. Do you see where is should go?

Hi I see no other empty slot even looking your black and white motherboard sheet. I am wondering if a board should be in place that is why I am asking?
