Which application are you using when you get this issue and which language version of the OS are you using? What you are describing sounds like a keyboard localization issue. Are you located in the US or Europe? Here is a link to a video which shows how to check your keyboard localization settings and also how t... You can also right-click my computer -->select properties --> in device manager highlight keyboard and right click to select uninstall. If you have a USB keyboard at this point unplug it and plug it back in. The OS will notice the change and reinstall the drivers. If you are using a PS/2 keyboard do not unplug it unless your system has been powered down.

I have the same issue. I purchased the Refurbished HP A6650f and am dealing with the same issue.
I know it isn't a keyboard localization issue. I've had every computer I've ever owned set to English(Canada) before and it hasn't happened until this computer. To ensure it wasn't, I changed it to English(US), same issue, but it occurs randomly. Oddly enough, it happens sometimes in some windows while not happening in other windows (MSN Messenger, but not in Google Chrome, in Google Chrome, but not in IE7 and vice versa).
I'm not using the HP keyboard that came with it, but a brand new Microsoft Comfort Curve 2000 USB keyboard. I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit.

check the keyboard properties and you may have
to go to microsoft site and search for the keyboard language
or other settings as well if possible
also check the language on the browser that
you are using look under the view and you will find Encoding
and you can select the area best desribe your location
if any is not working
i know this is the most dreaded part
restore you computer and when
and at the start of setting up your computer and OS
you will see language and select the desired best
describe your language
good points or advice..
Aslo if the questions or issues solved please check it
Thanks and you are welcome _____ Rick
