I have a hp pavilion a1210n that has been great until my hard drive started to get filled up. I decided to upgrade from the original 200gb sata to a seagate 1tb. The original drive has partition with 8 gig for recovery (drive d) and 178 gig for the os (c drive). When I used the cloning software it cloned my drive but added all the extra space of the 1tb to the d drive recovery progam instead of the c drive. After talking to tech support for almost 3 hours and 3 different people, they found that hp has done something to stop you from making a larger partition for the c drive. I was told by seagate tech support to try some other programs that would change the partition size or that would copy the contents of the drive so I could place them in a larger partition. I tried 2 programs that said it could do it, but they couldn't do either. I know I can just use this drive as an extra drive for storing data but I would really like to have everything on one drive. Has anyone else tried to upgrade to a larger hard drive, if so, how can it be done. I don't even care if I have the recovery program as I will still have that data on my original 200gb drive that will be uninstalled.
